sorry i meant to say two skid loaders, and the bigger one has 3,000 psi max

  • hand6969:

i have to skid loaders with one putting out 15gpm and the other 20 would that motor be a good choice for my application. and did you get you relief valve from surplus too?

  • beyondupnorth:

When the loader flow is shut off the inertia of the motor (and rotating blades) turn the brusher motor to a pump. But the flow can”t return to the loader, because the operator shut the flow off, so at this point the check valve opens allowing flow from the return hose back into the brushers pressure hose and it circulates through the motor until the blades stop rotating

    @hand6969
My motor is a 6.2 cubic inch displacement Charlyn (Eaton) from surpluscenter com
With 16.9 gpm I believe it calculated out to 570 rpm at the motor. Surplus center has calculators or folks who will help.
As for the bypass loop it is simply a T joining the pressure line to the return near the motor. It has a check valve in it that only allows flow one direction.
When the loader pump is driving the mower the check valve is closed so the oil must travel through the motor

@beyondupnorth where did u find a motor with a built in relief valve i found a few but had to be be custom made, or is there a way to mount an external bypass loop. and do u happen to know what rpm the motor turns?

  • beyondupnorth:

@beyondupnorth Thanks fo rmentioning this, I just downloaded it. Already learned the answer to 1 question I’ve had!

  • beyondupnorth:

@studboyspark Also in the deere section of skidsteerforum is a link to a pdf manual for the 240 and 250, series 1 I believe

  • studboyspark:

@beyondupnorth Nice! Thanks for all the good info. I am planning on adding a relief valve soon.

  • beyondupnorth:

Here is the updated open front with pics
    again on skidsteerforum PostID=28776
Throws al ot more debris around but works better in heavy grass, conserves your hp and does not bog down as easy. You should also consider the bypass loop so your cutter is not forced to stop instantly when you shut the flow down

  • beyondupnorth:

You should look at mine on skidsteerforum

Its the same deck and you can see how I reinforced it. Easier to do before they bend.
now i have the wheel gone and the front cut open to expose the blades. That works better as it discharges more. Next upgrade is a heavier plate under the gearbox and motor as the gear box has busted out. You should fully weld the raised area under your gear box to the deck

  • studboyspark:

@stemwhacker Thanks! The motor is a “Sonic” knockoff of an
Eaton Char-Lynn # 103-1028. Probably the next size smaller displacement motor would at least as well, but this is what I could find.

  • stemwhacker:

Nice work! Could you give me the specifics on the hydraulic motor you used? Would love to make something similar. Thanks.

  • studboyspark:

@chargermopar thanks, it does work pretty well, especially for keeping woods roads + trails open.

  • chargermopar:

Very good job, looks like you stuck a hydraulic motor on a pto bush mower. I have been thinking of doing this myself. Mowing with a skid steer seems effective.
