Is there anyone with the last name of Evje actually living in Evje, Norway right now?
I am the granddaughter of Carl Hyrmansen Evje and great-granddaughter of Kristoffer Evje, both of whom came to the US from Norway. We live in Minnesota, and our 25-year-old son, who is the spitting image of Carl, would like to live and work in or near the town of Evje, if possible. He is a skilled worker (carpentry, cabinet-making, CNC machine operator, forklift, skidsteer & bobcat operator) but would love an adventurous outdoor job, like taking people on hikes, canoe trips, etc.
We would also like to know if the town was named after one of our ancestors. I have read that it was named after an “Evje farm” on which a church was built.
Thank you!
